Living Inside Your Dreams

Chapter 1:
The Astral: meeting the dweller

By Robert Zucker

Have you ever suddenly awakened with the incredibly strong feeling that only a few moments ago you were in some distant place?

It may have surprised you to open your eyes and discover yourself lying in bed. You could have sworn that you were actually somewhere else, visiting some far away place and doing something that seemed very real while the dream was occuring.

This is the Astral- known to use as the "dream state."

We dream about this place. It is created from the depths of our imagination and appears from the far reaches of the universal mind.

The Astral engulfs our consciousness every evening. Each night, in the midst of sleep, we are guided on a spectacular journey.

As we travel in our dreams, we become a part of a mysterious world where life seems to exist in another dimension. We are taken. to places we may never have seen before and do things we would never expect to do.

Our nocturnal wanderings carry us along on a continuous flow of unusual sights and happenings.

We met people and beings who constantly involve us in bizarre and often dramatic adventures. We find ourselves in unfamiliar surroundings which constantly change on us. We are taken to new places in a matter of miliseconds. Throughout the night, we find ourselves acting as performers on the stage of this surreal world.

Call it a dream, or what you will, this other world that envelopes our minds during sleep reaches each and every one of us every night. We need not move any further than we are right now to get there. It comes to us under the disguise of a dream and carries us away.

This is astral projection. Everyone does it. Only a few remember it. Even fewer can control it.

This book goes far beyond the confines of pop dream psychology, establishing a scientifically researched framework for using lucid dreaming--that is, consciously influencing the outcome of your dreams. Based on Dr. Stephen LaBerge's extensive laboratory work at Stanford University mapping mind/body relationships during the dream state, as well as the teachings of Tibetan dream yogis and the work of other scientists, including German psycholgist Paul Tholey, this practical workbook will show you how to use your dreams to: Solve problems; Gain greater confidence; improve creativity, and more. Ballantine Books (November 13, 1991

Book Description: Dr.Arnold Mindell asserts that in order ot utilize the power of dreaming we must "catch the seeds of dreaming" while awake; we must "become aware of every moment," noticing subtle feelings before they unfold and become differentiated into the ideas and emotions that occur in night dreams, often manifesting later as symptoms of mental illness. Mindell gives dreaming new importance in the context of mystical traditions, quantum physics, and western psychology, and provides powerful dreaming applications for body work, chronic symptom work, and relationship/group therapies. Mindell tells how to use dreaming as a practical application for healing, stress-reduction, and health using simple exercises with easy steps
